Elliott Doesn't Waste Time

Devonte Elliott, one of those late bloomers from the West Coast, is off the board. Some guys need time to decide, others like Elliott know a good situation when they see it.

Devonte Elliott is one and done.

After taking his one and only official visit, the 6-foot-8 power forward out of Paramount (Calif.) High committed to Mark Fox's Nevada Wolf Pack program. In doing so, he's pledged to cancel a scheduled visit to George Washington.

"I only visited Nevada," Elliott said. "They really took the extra step with my academics. They really walked me through the process and told me what I needed to do. Other schools didn't get that far with me."

To use an industry term, Elliott is a "late bloomer." As a junior, he didn't set the world on fire. " I averaged 9 points but I've made a huge improvement over the summer and I can't wait to see what I'll be now," Elliott said.

No doubt he's made big strides and Nevada has feasted off late bloomers in recent years. Two of those late bloomers – Nick Fazekas & Kirk Snyder – are in the league now.

"Their fan base gets me excited. They've got a great coaching staff and couple of NBA players under they're and they're winning."
