No. 49 Johnson To Big 12

Mount Zion's top senior is Stillwater bound. Karron Johnson made his pick on Wednesday, seven days before the start of the early signing period.

According to multiple sources, Karron Johnson will play for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Recently, according to a source close to Johnson, he selected the Cowboys after strongly considering UAB.

"It's starting to get out," the source told "He committed to Oklahoma State.

"Oklahoma State has an opportunity for him that if he works and he does what he needs to do, there's an opportunity for him to get on the court his freshman year."

The Richmond native and power forward out of Mount Zion, was recruited by Butch Pierre when the coach was on staff at LSU. The relationship transferred to Stillwater and played a factor in the decision.

"He's known Butch Pierre for a very long time and he was recruiting him back when he was at LSU," the source said. "He was comfortable with that situation. There were a lot of people saying that if he waited he'd have a lot of options but he felt comfortable with Oklahoma State."

Johnson is ranked the No. 49 prospect in Class of 2009. Johnson is known for his raw power and exceptional athleticism in the paint.
