Washington Center Gets Bigger

Chester Giles made a name for himself last summer when he appeared at the Nike Camp. The junior center from Seattle Rainier Beach has continued to get bigger and improve, he's hearing from a long list of colleges, but he has three early favorites...

Chester Giles, 6-10 JR C, Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach, is one of the premiere big-man prospects on the west coast in the junior class. Having to sit out last season, Giles really burst on the scene last summer during the July tournament circuit. He played pretty well at the prestigious Nike Camp, against some of the best players in the country.

Last summer he was probably in the 6-9 range and weighed about 200 pounds. He now is closer to 6-10 and about 215, at least. His game has continued to improve, not only feeling more comfortable the more he plays, but his skills are continuing to improve. He's still fairly raw in the post, but his post footwork and technique are quite a bit better than they were last summer.

Giles said he's hearing from a huge list of schools, and among those his favorites are USC, Arizona State and Kansas.
