Offers Roll In For Prather

Casey Prather's recruitment has taken off. He has a handful of scholarship offers and plenty of other schools involved.

Casey Prather established himself as a high major recruit this past spring and summer on the AAU circuit with the Nashville Celtics, so Jackson (Tenn.) Northside became a hot spot for college coaches during the fall.

"He's got a lot of offers and a lot of schools coming in as well," Nashville Celtics coach Jonathan Henderson said.

Among the schools that have offered are Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Alabama, Mississippi, Minnesota and Georgia. While Stanford, Kentucky, Florida, Memphis, Tennessee and Duke have all shown initial interest.

"Kentucky has been involved more with him lately over the past few weeks," Henderson said. "Coach [Jeremy] Cox came down a few weeks ago and they've really picked it up with him as well."

"We are still getting calls from Florida and they are trying to get up here. Memphis came up here to see him probably three weeks ago and they said they are going to get back for a game."

Despite the attention, Prather appears to be taking the process slow. According to Henderson, who Prather has played for during the summer the past few years, the 6-foot-5 wing is just trying to have fun with his recruitment.

"He hasn't really taken many visits and he hasn't' gotten too far with it," he said. "I think he's going to take some visits over Christmas and when they get done with the season and I think he'll start taking it more seriously then."

"He's really enjoying it right now. There's a point where it goes from enjoyable to where it gets old. Right now he's just enjoying it and hasn't really put much pressure on himself to narrow it down."

At this point Prather has only taken unofficial visits to Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Alabama.

"He's kind of just taking everything in and trying to get to know the coaches over the phone and he'll probably take some more visits in the near future."
