Jamaal Trice recently started receiving high major interest and during a visit to UConn he gave them a verbal commitment.

Although it's late in the game, there are still a number of high major programs in need of a shooting guard. Among those schools is Connecticut, but they filled their need late Tuesday night with the commitment from Jamaal Trice.

The former Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei product made the move to Durham (N.C.) Mt. Zion this year and attracted interest high major programs.

"I just felt like it was the best school for me and my style of play," Trice told Scout.com. "I really like how their guards play and their past history of developing guards. So I know they can help my game."

As of four months ago Trice said he wasn't being recruited by anyone. Since his season at Mt. Zion began he's heard Wake Forest, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and South Florida.

Trice joins five-star prospect Alex Oriahki and his high school teammate Jamaal Coombs.
