Badgers Pick Up Early Verbal

Another sophomore goes down. Devon Hodges made his college decision and went with a Big Ten power.

Devon Hodges saw a great opportunity at Wisconsin and didn't want to pass it up.

So the 6-foot-7 sophomore power forward at Romeoville (Ill.) High committed to Bo Ryan and the Badgers late Sunday evening.

"I decided to take the offer from Wisconsin," Hodges told "I wanted to be a Badger."

After seeing Hodges play a number of times, Wisconsin formally offered him a scholarship earlier this week.

"Me and Coach [Howard] Moore have been talking for a little while," Hodges said. "He's come to a few of my games and has invited me down to Wisconsin and showed me around the campus."

"I really liked what I saw and the environment down there was great, plus they're only two hours away. I've been talking to them and they offered me and I talked to my family and we came to a conclusion and I made my decision."

Hodges, who has been to Madison (Wisc.) to see Wisconsin's campus three times, was impressed with Bo Ryan and how he runs his program.

"They are like a family down there," Hodges said. "Bo Ryan is real cool. The coaching staff keeps it real with you. They tell you what you do wrong and what you do right. They don't sugar coat anything down there."

The 2011 prospect also had early interest from Northwestern, DePaul, Purdue, Indiana, Butler, Xavier and Southern Illinois.
