Vincent Council ended his college recruitment on Tuesday. The lead guard went with a Big East program.
Point guards flew off the board early in the 2009 class, so to grab one late is a big feat, and that's exactly what Providence
Keno Davis and his staff scored a verbal commitment from Lenoir (N.C.) Patterson Prep standout Vincent Council late Tuesday evening.
"They did the best job recruiting him," Patterson Prep head coach Chris Chaney said. "He feels that he can go in there and play a lot right away. He was very impressed with coach Davis and coach [Pat] Skerry and I think that put it over the top."
Chaney said Rutgers was also strong in the mix and finished a close second. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound lead man also considered Cincinnati and Arkansas.
Council, a starter on the loaded Patterson squad, joins Johnnie Lacy, James Still, Kyle Wright, Kadeem Batts and Duke Mondy, to make up Providence's 2009 recruiting class.
