Shaw Joins Big Class; Headed To Big 12

Jarred Shaw took a visit on Monday and he didn't leave the Big 12 campus until he made a verbal commitment.

Oklahoma State has added yet another member to their 2009 recruiting class.

Already holding commitments from six prospects in the senior class, Travis Ford and his staff added Jarred Shaw on Monday. The 6-foot-10, 210-pound big man committed, while on campus for a visit.

"I felt like I've been knowing them forever," Shaw said when asked about his commitment. "They were real nice. They showed us around campus and showed us everything."

"They have great facilities and great academic people," he continued. "I can go in there and make an impact on the team. Plus everything is convenient there."

Shaw joins a pair of four-star prospects in Roger Franklin and Karron Johnson, as well as Fred Gulley, Torin Walker, Ray Penn and Reger Dowell.

"We are going to be good," Shaw said about their 2009 class. "We are going to be young our first year, but as we get to be sophomores and juniors I think we are going to be good."

The Dallas (Tex.) David Carter said his current coach, Robert Allen, and coach Ford have similar coaching philosophies and he felt comfortable with him.

"Coach Ford is a good coach," Shaw said. "I try to compare him to coach Alice because they coach the same way. They are always into the game and never sit down. They are always in the game and will do anything to win. Coach Ford is a good coach."

According to Shaw, Oklahoma State beat out the likes of Texas A&M, Texas, Baylor and California to gain his services.
