Sidney Headed To USC

Renardo Sidney,'s No. 5 recruit in the Class of 2009, is staying in Los Angeles. The big man committed Sunday night.

The USC Trojans are the proud owners of a commitment from Renardo Sidney,'s No. 5 prospect in the Class of 2009.

At a press conference Sunday evening, Sidney revealed that he selected the Trojans Thursday night after considering UCLA, Virginia, Mississippi State and Memphis.

"It was a difficult and close family decision," Sidney at a banquet with roughly a dozen members of the press in attendance.

Sidney cited Southern Cal coach Tim Floyd's experience on all levels as a major factor. He also stated a comfort level with the current team members and 2009 signee Solomon Hill, a current teammate of Sidney's at Fairfax.

Sidney indicated at the media event that he did not consider Europe.
