Gilchrist Could Miss Remainder of Season

Early indications are that Michael Gilchrist may miss the remainder of his sophomore season. The St. Patrick's standout may have broken his foot.

The St. Patrick Celtics have been dealt a tough blow.

Michael Gilchrist, the team's outstanding 6-foot-7 sophomore small forward, is likely to miss a significant amount of time, possibly the remainder of the season, with a broken foot.

"I don't for sure yet," Gilchrist said Sunday night. "I was going up for a dunk and I just came down hard."

Gilchrist, potentially the best underclassman in the country, turned in an outstanding sophomore season to date. Not only a great talent, Gilchrist has been on of the most intense, hardest playing performers we've see all year.

It's been a bit of a unique season for the Celtics. The team finished second at the prestigious City of Palms Classic and then added transfer Kyrie Irving in January. They've had the benefit of a full roster on the past month and now Gilchrist goes down with an injury.

Gilchrist is presently Scout.com's No. 2 sophomore.
