Holland Commits To C-USA Program

Anthony Holland waited for the best opportunity and last weekend he matched the books with the hoops and found himself a good fit for college.

The Rice Owls have added a combo guard. Anthony Holland, a 6-foot-2 combo guard out of Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Bryant, committed to Ben Braun's program after visiting last weekend.

Holland's father is thrilled with his choice and that says a lot. Dad James is an assistant with the Alabama Crimson Tide. "We're happy with his choice. A lot of schools had been calling but Rice was attractive all along. When Ben Braun came out to see him they wanted him."

So, the son of a college coach is headed to a Conference USA program that has a strong first recruiting class on the books.

"A.J. is a great combo guard that plays tenacious defense and will provide a winning attitude and those rare leadership skills that will serve him well on the next level," Birmingham Ice coach Ava Herndon said. "Rice has landed itself a player that's very coachable and has good character as well."
