Medder Drawing Plenty Of Interest

Donte Medder didn't get seen much last spring and summer, but he's a top target for college coaches after a very good senior season...

Donte Medder, 6-1 SR PG Mesa (Ariz.) High, is one of the elite players at his position in the West Coast class of 2009. He's an above avereage athlete, with good size for his position and good ball skills. He can get to the rim, create for teammates off the bounce and knock down outside shots. He's not a great shooter, but he shoots it pretty well and there's nothing wrong with his stroke.

Medder didn't play much last spring or summer and, as a result, his recruitment really didn't take off until the past couple months. He had an outstanding senior season and multiple schools are now recruiting him.

"I'm hearing from Tulsa, Arizona, St. Mary's, USC, UCLA, Marquette, Washington State, San Diego State, SMU and Rutgers," said Medder.

I asked which programs have offered scholarships.

"Tulsa, St. Mary's, San Diego State, SMU and Rutgers," said Medder. "UCLA is asking me to wait until they see what their scholarship situation will be after the season."

When questioned about the factors that will influence his decision, Medder replied, "I want to be comfortable with the staff – a staff that will help me reach my highest potential."

Medder has been on official visits to St. Mary's and Tulsa. He said he'll visit San Diego State this weekend.

Medder said he has a 2.5 GPA and a qualifying test score.
