Raleigh's Davis To Stay Home

Raleigh Athens Drive senior Josh Davis won't have to travel far. The forward is going to play in his home state for his favorite team.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack has a new forward. Josh Davis, a 6-foot-5 combo forward out of Raleigh (N.C.) Athens Drive, committed to the Pack on Monday.

"I know they've been looking at me for a while and they decided to offer me," Davis said. "They see me coming into a great 2009 class with a lot of recruits. They feel like I have a chance to help the team right away at the small forward and other positions."

Davis finished second to Earnest Ross for player of the year in the Tri-Eight this season. He averaged 25.4 points. Interest came from UNC-Wilmington, Seton Hall, Charleston Southern, High Point and Old Dominion. "A lot of schools were getting ready to offer," Davis said.

For a long time Pack fan, it's a special day. "They called me and asked me to come talk to Coach Lowe and they asked me if I was interested. I told them I'm committed and I wanted to join. It's always been my dream. I've been a Pack fan since the first time I went to a game in 9th grade and I fell in love with it."

Davis joins a recruiting class that includes guards Lorenzo Brown and Scott Wood plus power forward Richard Howell.
