Ferguson Will Reconsider Commitment

With the loss of who he thought would be his future head coach, Dominique Ferguson is strongly considering a decommitment.

With Billy Gilispie and Kentucky partying ways today, there will likely be handful of recruits back on the market.

Among their most touted commits, Dominique Ferguson, of Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North, appears to already be heading in that direction, according to his dad, Deon Ferguson.

"We haven't decided yet, but there's a strong possibility that he's going to decommit and go through the recruiting process again," the elder Ferguson told Scout.com. "It's kind of a wait and see too, if the right coach comes in and the right style."

"There's not a coach there," he continued. "Right now you got to say he's got to decommit until the further notice really."

When Ferguson, a 6-foot-8 power forward, committed to Kentucky in late April of last year, he picked the Cats over interest from Purdue, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Wake Forest and Louisville.

"He wanted to go there," Deon Ferguson said. "He had a real close relationship with Tracy Webster, so that was a big thing too he wanted to be close with someone down there."

According to Ferguson, some schools have already been in touch with his son, who is ranked No. 9 overall by Scout.com.

"He has [heard from other schools]," he said. "We just aren't saying too much about that right now and kind of waiting and seeing what happens."
