Ford Has Top Three

Khalif Ford, one of the better unsigned players in the west from the class of 2003, is considering three schools from the Mountain West and WAC...

Khalif Ford, 6-0 SR PG Diamond Bar (Calif.) High, has shown solid progress after a somewhat disappointing summer. We've seen Ford a couple times in the last month and we've come away impressed. His shot looks smoother, he's making better decisions and he looks better physically.

Ford is not a point guard who will break down defenses off the dribble and create for others, but he's got a nice shot, good frame and good athleticism. We like him at the mid-major level in the right situation.

We spoke with Ford last night and he told us that he's considering San Diego St., Boise St. and San Jose St. He's taken an unofficial trip to San Diego St. -- when he went to the San Diego St./Arizona game -- and he plans on taking official visits after his season ends.

We asked Ford about the factors he'll consider when making his decision. "The schedule they play -- the competition -- the coaching staff and how I get along with the players on the team," said Ford.

Ford said he doesn't feel close to making a decision yet and didn't have a definite timeframe in mind for choosing a school.

Ford told us that he's fully qualified academically.
