Real Deal: Day One Rundown

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.– All-Ohio is without two of its stars but the machine rolled on as Adreian Payne flashed his offensive game. Day One of the Real Deal In The Rock is on the books.

Adreian Payne, C, All-Ohio: This guy could be ready to explode. On Friday, Payne hunted his offense and looked good doing it. The 3-pointer was a bit of a shock but he swished it. The hook shot was nice but once again, it was a defensive play that was the signature moment. He engulfed a shot at the rim that was a straight up jaw dropper.

Alex Rossi, SG/SF, Rising Stars: We'll be hard-pressed to find five better shooters before the summer circuit kicks in. What's impressive isn't just his stroke, it's how he cobbles up the points. Definitely a threat from behind the line, he's a quick trigger off screens and loves the curl. A sneaky athlete, Rossi scored 20 against the Dallas Mustangs.

Aaron Craft, PG, All-Ohio: Without Jordan Sibert and Juwan Staten, he looked to score more and did. Defensively, same old deal: he's great on the ball. The next step is becoming a knock-down shooter.

Titus Rubles, SF/PF, Dallas Mustangs: At 6-7, he's a tweener forward prospect with hops. A strong slasher, he's on the mid-to-high fence and his athleticism is an asset.

Deville Smith, PG, MBA Hoops: Let the Tyrese Rice comparisons begin. The sub-six-footer is crafted from the scoring point mold. Craft did a nice job slowing him down but in the second half he was able to get to the rim and get going. Long arms, a scorer's DNA and because Rice slipped under the radar as a senior, we'll bet the same doesn't happen to Smith.

DeMarco Cox, C, MBA Hoops: There are rumblings that he's a big time football player. Cox said he'd like to do both in college. Against Jared Sullinger he went hard for a half and fought a good fight before eventually yielding to the size and skill of Sullinger.

Jordan Sibert had surgery on Friday. He broke his tibia and fibula last weekend. … Juwan Staten is in attendance but not playing due to a bruised bone on his knee. … LaQuinton Ross is not in attendance and has an ankle injury. …

All-Ohio, even with its injuries, has plenty of talent. Sullinger is a beast and should have a long career on the hardwood. He's the best college prospect with Payne having an even larger professional ceiling. … Rising Stars guard Ben Brust is coming off major foot surgery and working his way back into game shape. …

Terrance Durham of Memphis Select has a presence at the point and a strong body. He led the charge past the Dallas Mustangs Blue. … Keaton Miles is coming along nicely. His skill package trumps his spindly frame at this stage. Liked his intensity and willingness to get dirty inside. … Deville Smith's father played football at Southern Miss. …

DeMarco Cox has Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Ole Miss looking at him on the gridiron. … Adreian Payne said Xavier, Cincinnati, Dayton, West Virginia and Florida were paying him a lot of attention. … Titus Rubles is hearing from Oklahoma State and Pepperdine. …

Alex Rossi has offers from Northwestern and Iowa. California and Stanford are coming early next week to see him. … Center Jordan Threloff is being recruited by Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Illinois State, Bradley and UW-Milwaukee. Iowa and Cal are looking. … Terrence Durham is hearing from Ole Miss, Missouri, Tennessee, SEMO and Memphis. …
