2010's McKie Finds Home In The ACC

The Richmond Times Dispatch player of the year is headed to the ACC. Travis McKie, a 6-foot-6 forward out of John Marshall, ended his recruitment on Wednesday.

From Richmond (Va.) John Marshall to Wake Forest University. That's where Travis McKie is headed after committing to the Demon Deacons on Wednesday.

McKie had scholarship offers from Clemson, Virginia, VCU and Georgia Tech and interest from North Carolina.

McKie, a small forward, informed the Wake Forest staff today of his decision. "Coach Kelsey broke his computer, he was running outside on the track. He was going crazy. It was funny."

The Richmond Times Dispatch player of the year averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds. McKie's also an outstanding student. Wake Forest's pitch to him been steady and consistent.

"Wake Forest, they've been recruiting me a long time," McKie told Scout.com. "They always stayed in contact and they made me the No. 1 priority. I think I can achieve everything I want at that school.

"They said I can come in as a freshman and make an impact on the team. I'll play the 2-3, maybe the four sometimes and get up and down like they do. I wanted to (commit) after I visited the first time. It just felt like the right place to go."
