Junior PG Marcus Everett
Marcus Everett, 6-1 JR PG West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade, has the potential to end up at the mid to high major level. He's well put together, has a solid handle and shoots it out to the stripe. More of a scorer than distributor at this point, Everett can create his own shot and has the strength to finish inside. He needs to work on his decisions -- jumps in the air a bit too much -- but he has a chance to be a very solid player at the next level. Everett told us recently that he's hearing from Utah, Stanford, Arizona St., Oregon, Washington and Princeton. We asked if any schools stood out from the group and Everett replied, "Utah and Oregon." Everett told us that he's been corresponding by email with both Utah and Oregon. He said the Utes have been out to see him at a practice, while Oregon has been at a game. When questioned about the factors he considers important to his decision, Everett said, "education -- I'm using basketbal as a means to an education. Basketball won't always be there, so the education is important. Also, the program -- what the coaches and players are like." Everett also said the opportunity to play early will be important when he chooses a school. He told us he'd like to stay in the west if possible, but he's open to leaving the West Coast. Everett said he has a 3.5 GPA and he'll take the SAT in April.
