Holt To Vist Two Pac-10 Schools

Stephen Holt, a 6-3 junior point guard from Oregon, has offers from schools in the Mountain West, WAC and WCC. He'll be visiting two Pac-10 programs next month...

Stephen Holt, 6-3 JR PG Portand (Ore.) Jesuit, is one of the top point guards in the west for 2010. He's got good quickness and vision, along with a nice feel for the game.

I spoke with Holt recently and asked him about the schools that have been expressing interest in him.

"The three offers I have are from Utah, Portland and Boise State," said Holt. "I'm going to Cal and Stanford for their Elite Camps in June. Washington State was recruiting me when Coach Bennett was there, but I'm not sure about now with the new staff."

I asked Holt if he has a leader.

"No, they're all kind of in a group right now," said Holt. "I'm open to everything and as the summer progresses I want to get a short list."

Holt talked a little about the issues he'll consider when he picks a school.

"Academics are the main thing," said Holt. "I'm not sure what type of system will fit my game best and that's something I want to talk to my coach about. I'd love to stay in the west, but I'm open to going anywhere in the country."

I asked Holt if he has a time frame for choosing a school.

"Probably at the end of the AAU season," said Holt. "I'd like to get it done and enjoy my senior year."
