So how did word get out about Dawson? He said attention began picking up after playing in a few showcase events.
"I had a workout and I went out to Las Vegas for a camp and then the midwest Pangos camp that all helped get my name out there and I've just been playing hard," Dawson said.
His sophomore campaign went pretty well too. Dawson led his squad to a 14-7 record and went for 17 points per game.
Already Dawson has taken a bunch on unofficial visits. During the college basketball season he made trips to Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Butler and Xavier for games.
Dawson's next trip will likely be back to Indiana for one of their upcoming camps.
"I've talked to coach Crean a lot," he said. "He's trying to get me to come to their Team Camp. We have a good relationship. When I went up there we hung out with the guys and watched some movies on how they played."
With his recruitment picking up steam, Dawson said he's not in a rush and is just taking all the attention in.
"It's still real early."
