Patterson Holds Four Offers

Ron Patterson, who averaged 16 points, six assists and six rebounds a game during his freshman season, is jumping in the recruiting process early. Already he claims a handful of scholarship offers.

The underclassmen in the state of Indiana are receiving quite a bit of hype. Among the guys being touted as one of the best in the 2012 class is Indianapolis (Ind.) Broad Ripple standout Ron Patterson.

Over the course of his freshman campaign, Patterson drew the eye of several college coaches including Tom Crean, Matt Painter and Thad Matta. All three have since offered Patterson a scholarship.

But there are others as well. DePaul recently offered, Xavier is showing interest, Wake Forest has made it known they want to recruit him and Illinois is in the mix for the 6-foot-3 wing too.

"I don't have anything narrowed down yet," Patterson said when asked about his recruitment. "I'm not sure when I'll make my decision."

Two weekends ago Patterson took unofficial visits to Purdue, Indiana and Ohio State. He doesn't have any other trips planned for the near future. Patterson was adamant that he's not going to be making a college decision anytime soon.

"It's still really early," he said. "I'm not ready to make a decision yet."

Patterson, who runs with Spiece Indy Stars 15's is off to a great start to the AAU season. Throughout the spring he's led the Stars to a few tournament championships and has raised his level of play.

"It's going well," Patterson said. "We've gotten a couple of championships, but we've lost a couple too, but it's been going OK."

The Spiece Indy Stars and Patterson will be back in action this coming weekend at the Memorial Day Run & Slam in Fort Wayne (Ind.).
