Tacoma Lincoln's Maurice Shaw, the #5-ranked center on the west coast in the senior class, has settled down for his senior season and is trying to get academically qualified...
Maurice Shaw, 6-8 SR C, Tacoma (Wash.) Lincoln, as we've reported in the past, has been a much-traveled young man, going to a number of high schools in his young life. He's now settled in for his senior year at Lincoln, and he's having a good senior season, averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds a game. The #5 rated center prospect in the west, he's one of the most talented players in the region still left uncommitted.
Shaw, though, has some questions about his academics. He has yet to pass the SAT and might not meet the GPA criteria to qualify to play as a freshman next year. Shaw didn't passy his first SAT in October, but plans to take it again this spring.
Shaw had been hearing from the likes of Indiana, Iowa, Arizona State and Washington, but those programs are in a wait-and-see mode over Shaw's academics.
Shaw has said that if he didn't qualify to play next year in college, he could be open to going the partial-qualifier route, or possibly attend a prep school for a year.
