Rossi Packing Bags For Pac-10

Alex Rossi finished up playing at the NBA Top 100 Camp and then focused on his future. The 2010 shooting guard made a verbal commitment to a Pac-10 school the day after camp ended.

The California Golden Bears scored one of their top targets Monday afternoon.

Alex Rossi, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard presently ranked No. 70 in's Top 100, committed to the program after mulling over offers from Virginia, Notre Dame, Northwestern and interest from Stanford.

"The biggest thing for him was that he's always wanted to go west," Rising Stars traveling coach Mike Weinstein told "He was looking for an academic institution. He loved the size and diversity of the campus. It's a melting pot of kids from different areas; he thought that was great."

Rossi played last week at Virginia's Elite Camp and then stayed in town to attend the NBA Top 100 Camp.

"Basketball-wise, the way they play was great. Coach Montgomery and Coach Gottlieb called, they charted him and they sent everybody to look at him. They want him, they know who he is and what he can be."

Rossi is one of the premier shooters in the class of 2010. He attends New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill.
