Peters Headed To Big 12

Richard Peters is off the board. The big man will play his college basketball in the Big 12

Richard Peters didn't need much time to figure out where he was headed for his college ball.

"Richard is going to commit to the University of Oklahoma today," Westin (Fla.) Sagemont head coach Adam Ross told Scout.com.

Peters, a 2011 prospect, took a visit to Norman (Okla.) a few months back and that trip was among the many deciding factors for the Canada native.

"They've done a great job recruiting him," Ross said. "He's been on their radar for a long time and he went vistied there this past spring and really enjoyed Norman and coach [Jeff] Capel.

According to Ross, Peters, a 6-foot-9, 260-pound big man, also took a visit to Connecticut, but Oklahoma won out because of the relationships that he built with the Sooner staff.

"He really values their relationship and he felt like it was the right fit for him," Ross said.

Peters if the first verbal commitment for Capel's 2011 recruiting class.
