Walker Favors Two Schools

James Walker, a very promising junior guard from Los Alamitos (Calif.), tells us that two schools from the WAC and WCC currently top his list...

James Walker, 6-1 JR SG/PG Los Alamitos (Calif.) High, is a very talented prospect with a significant upside. An above average athlete, Walker has a very good basketball body and his shot is solid to the stripe.

I spoke with Walker recently and asked about the schools that have been recruiting him.

"San Diego, San Jose State, Washington State, Portland, Portland State, UC Santa Barbara and Pacific," said Walker.

I asked Walker if any schools have offered a scholarship.

"San Jose State has offered and San Diego has said they will offer," said Walker.

Walker said two programs stand out for him at the moment.

"I like San Diego and San Jose State," said Walker "Right now, they're showing the most interest."

I asked Walker what he is looking for in a school.

"Well, I have asthma, so someplace where it won't be affected," said Walker. "I was in Arizona and it was fine there. But in Florida I had a hard time breathing. So someplace dry would be better. Also, I'd like to go where I could play my freshman year."

Walker said he took an unofficial visit recently.

"I went to the San Diego camp a couple weekends ago and it was pretty nice," said Walker. "It seems like they have a good staff."

Walker said he may visit San Jose State in August.

As far as a time frame for his decision, Walker said he may decide after the summer.

"I might decide in August or September -- I'm not sure yet," said Walker.

Walker said he currently has a 2.8 GPA.
