Top Three For John Gage

John Gage, a 6-8 senior power forward from Washington, tells us that three schools in the Pac-10 head his list. He says it's possible he could be making a decision in the near future...

John Gage, 6-8 SR PF Vashon Island (Wash.) Vashon, is a skilled face-up four man with a very nice stroke to the three-point line. I only had a chance to see Gage play a little bit at the recent Rose City Showcase, but he was impressive in the one game I saw.

I spoke with Gage recently and he told me three schools currently top his list.

"Cal, Stanford and Washington are my top three," said Gage. "They've each offered."

Gage has been to all three schools on unofficial visits and I asked him for his thoughts on each program.

"Cal has a great engineering program and that's what I'm focusing on right now," said Gage. "They have a proven, intelligent, great coach and their program in on the rise."

Gage went on to say, "Stanford is Stanford. I'm really into the academic side of things and Stanford is a great school. Coach Dawkins seems like a great coach and a great guy."

Finally, Gage had this to say about Washington. "UW is the hometown school and I've been a fan growing up and am still a fan. Lorenzo Romar is a great coach, but more than that he's a great guy. I've had the chance to get to know him a bit and he's just a really good guy."

I asked Gage if he plans on taking any official visits prior to making his decision.

"Probably not since I can't take official visits until the fall," said Gage. "I'm probably going to decide before then – perhaps by the middle of July."

An excellent student, Gage said he currently has a 3.94 GPA.
