Daniels Goes Down To Big 12 Squad

DeAndre Daniels traveled the country doing unofficial visits two weeks ago. Now he's come up with a college decision.

DeAndre Daniels is off the board.

After a few days of examining the schools involved, Daniels, a 6-foot-7, 195-pound forward called Rick Barnes and his staff at Texas and gave them a verbal commitment.

"I decided on Texas because of the basketball, academics and life after basketball," Daniels said. "It just felt like family when I went there. It was just a gut feeling. It just felt like a perfect fit. The family atmosphere was strong at Texas."

The former staff at USC was in the mix for Daniels, as was Rhode Island, UNLV, Kentucky, Memphis, Washington and others. Daniels fell in love with Texas after he watched Kevin Durant play under Barnes.

"I started liking Texas when Kevin Durant went there," he told Scout.com. "Since then, Texas has always been my favorite."

Originally a member of the 2010 class, Daniels has reclassified to the 2011 group and will play next year at Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, after sitting out this past year due to transfer rules.

Daniels is Texas' fourth commitment in the 2011 class. He joins Julien Lewis, Sheldon McClellan and Myck Kabongo.
