LeBron: Skills Academy Wraps Up

SHAQRON, Ohio – The campers at the LeBron James Skills Academy closed down action in Akron with a running clock scrimmage. It was an opportunity to see a couple guys we hadn't eyeballed in a while and gauge their progress.

Frank Williams, SG: Been a big end of June/early July for this guy. Like his length and he's got a release that will give him a chance. His smooth stroke is going to make someone fall hard for him as a shooting specialist. Not bad for a guy whose expectations were to just get a scholarship. "Actually, they projected me as low-major but I didn't let that affect me," Williams said. "I just kept working hard."

Daniel Alexander, F: Easy to see why Texas A&M locked him down. He's got a legit range and for a big, he can smoke it. Put him next to Khris Middleton and the Aggies are going to be a threat from deep. Has to get stronger and diversify his game but a skilled shooting forward.

Kaela King, Wing: He's a guy we'll be interested in seeing more this month. Very comfortable with the basketball in his hands and showed savvy as a passer. Impressed with his handling and overall decision making. Might be a guy best served long term with the ball in his hands. He needs to get stronger but we like his poise.

Adonis Thomas, SF: Specimen. This guy continues to grow on you. He's boxing his man out, gets himself a tip dunk and has great court awareness. As a rebounder and passer at his position he's got to be up there with the top guys in his class.

Nick Johnson, PG/SG: We didn't watch his game exclusively but each time the old eyes darted to his court a jump shot was going down. Some things never change!

Earlier in the day we talked to Kyrie Irving who lives by the phrase "Hungry and Humble." Hours later, we learned that Reggie Bullock has the words tattooed on the inside of each bicep. Seems like the word is spreading. …

J.T. Terrell knocked down a bunch of shots in his opening scrimmage. He's letting it go with much confidence coming out of the individual camp last week. … Malcolm Gilbert, a junior shot blocker, swatted one, ran the floor and then was fairly rewarded by Phil Pressey. Good effort, ran hard, nice reward for a summer game. Well played, fellas. …

Frank Williams has offers from Central Michigan, Murray State, Oral Roberts and Wichita State. Kansas State, Missouri, Marquette, Minnesota, Arkansas and Michigan State will watch him closely. … Doron Lamb lists Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma, Marquette, Connecticut, Pittsburgh and Arizona. The real news: he'll definitely visit Kansas, Oklahoma and Kentucky. Lamb made waves when he recently visited Kentucky. "Me and Rod Strickland have a lot in common," Lamb said. "We're both from New York and went to Oak Hill." …

The LeBron James Skills Academy is over. The campers move Tuesday night to Cleveland for the King James Classic.
