2011's Turner Rescinds Pledge

Josiah Turner committed to Arizona State last September. On Thursday, he rescinded the pledge and is intent of checking his options.

There were too many commitments on Thursday to not have a de-commitment. Josiah Turner, Scout.com's No. 57 junior, was the second BCS-level de-commitment of the month. Danny Lawhorn and Boston College parted ways earlier this week.

Turner, a 6-foot-2 combo out of Sacramento (Calif.) High, wanted to see what other options unfold. He hasn't ruled out a return commitment to the Sun Devils and expects Herb Sendek to continue pursuing him.

"(Coach Sendek) said he thought it was the best thing because how frustrating it was getting," Turner said.

Like many early pledges, Turner cited a desire to be recruited and echoed similar statements that he did it too early. "I never went through the recruiting process and I just wanted to open up to any school to see what other schools are like. It wasn't schools in particular that I wanted to go to, I just wanted to open it up to see who would come."

Turner said he'd like to hear from Pac-10 and SEC programs.

"I will consider (Arizona State). I'm open to anybody. If they want to recruit me, they can. I really like (the Sun Devils)."
