Gage Makes Pac-10 Call

John Gage is off the board. The Washington center will play in the Pac-10 and he's fired up about it. "It's so rewarding now and it feels so good," Gage said. "I'm thrilled."

The Stanford Cardinal is on a roll. Two days, two commitments. On Friday, point guard Aaron Bright was admitted and then committed in the same day. Within 24 hours, Johnny Dawkins' team had itself a new center.

"The timing has to do with that I finally got my application accepted at Stanford," John Gage told Scout.com. "I was already leaning toward Stanford and when I got accepted it felt right. Then I verballed. The academics are incredible. I don't plan to play basketball a lot beyond college so it's so right."

The Vashon Island (Wash.) Vashon product averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds as a junior. He was coveted by the Pac-10. "It was Washington and Cal who were in the mix," Gage said. "I decided on Stanford."

Gage is likely to major in engineering during his time at Stanford. "I'm thinking like mechanical or civil engineer. I love math and I love designing things. That's what I'm interested in right now."
