Creekmur Shuns High Majors; Headed To WCC

Chanse Creekmur didn't want to wait until after the second July evaluation period to make his college decision, so he made the call on Saturday.

Chanse Creekmur had high major scholarship offers. But instead of playing for big six conference school, the 6-foot-6 forward opted for Santa Clara.

"He's feeling the California love," Creekmur's AAU coach Marquise Watts told

"He thought he was going to be a high major dude, but when he went out to Santa Clara and hung out with those guys and their recruits they all kind of got to know each other. He had such a great experience and then they watched ever single one of his games in early July."

According to Watts, Arizona State, Oregon State, Minnesota, San Diego, Nevada and Marquette were showing heavy interest, but Creekmur went with Santa Clara because of the great job Kerry Keating and his staff did recruiting him.

"He just feel in love with the campus and Jimmy Ware was relentless with him and coach Keating showed him how much he meant to their program."
