James Tips At 3:15
If it's LeBron James you wish to see, then Monday Jan. 20 at the Greensboro Coliseum is where you'll get a chance. The Coliseum holds right around 20,000 people so it'll be interesting – not impossible – to see if James can pack the place for a 3:15 game against Winston-Salem Reynolds.
Jeremy Treatman, the director of the Scholastic-Play-By-Play Network has been working on this tour stop for awhile and it's sure to be a good one. The Fantastic Hoops event tips at 11:15 a.m.
In the first game, Bishop McGuiness takes on Burlington Cummings, a program with a pair of Division I prospects on the roster. Tip time is 11:15.
The Fantastic Hoops Tour goes international for the 1:00 game as Greensboro Day prepares to get patriotic against the Australian National Club team. This one could be interesting.
At 3:15 the main event rolls into town. "King James" as his mouthpiece clearly reads per the recent Sports Illustrated article, takes on Winston-Salem Reynolds, the 3-time defending state champs from North Carolina. So far, no one has stopped James and he recently torched a high school team for 50 points. North Carolina signee Reyshawn Terry, a noted defender, gets his chance in the spotlight against James.
After the buzz of the James game, Greensboro Dudley challenges Mount Zion in the 5:30 game. Mount Zion, fresh off the Dell Curry championship, has a considerable advantage in the experience department in this one. Dudley coach David Price has two stars, but they're young. William Graves is a standout freshman and Kevin Swinton, a power forward, is only a sophomore. Regardless, they'll be plenty of talent on display.
The nightcap is a good one. Greensboro Smith led by Jeremy Clayton faces off against a reinvigorated Anthony King and Southern Durham. King's been posting nice numbers since the Glaxo event in December.
