Johnson Commits To Pac 10 Squad

Sidiki Johnson, a 2011 prospect, is off the board. The talented junior made a verbal commitment late Saturday evening.

Arizona made Sidiki Johnson a priority and that ultimately made the difference in his recruitment.

Johnson, a standout at Bronx (N.Y.) St. Raymond, gave Sean Miller and his staff a verbal commitment late Saturday evening.

"Me and Sean Miller have a great relationship," Johnson said. "We talk a lot and when I went on the visit we hung out the entire time. He really made me feel like I was family."

"All the other schools that were recruiting me, I didn't really have a relationship with the head coach, but Sean Miller and the Arizona coaches went out of there way to build a relationship."

Kentucky, Providence, St. John's, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and others were involved in his recruitment, but he felt more comfortable with the Wildcats.

"I felt real comfortable there," Johnson said. "I had a relationship with them and my mom is cool with their coach and it just felt like home to me so I committed."

Johnson took a visit there a few months ago and feel in love with the campus and environment.

"It was a great place," he said. "It doesn't matter how far away from home I am. It's a great community, a great college atmosphere and the visit was great. I felt like I was at home."

Johnson is Arizona's first commitment of the 2011 recruiting class.
