Harris Knocks List Down To Five

A year ago, Damontre Harris just wanted a scholarship. After the summer he turned in, scholarship offers were not a problem and now he's tightened up his list.

Damontre Harris, Fayetteville (N.C.) Trinity Christian's standout center, has his trimmed his list to five schools.

According to Heath Vandevender, Trinity's head coach, Scout.com's No. 65 prospect has a plan. Take five visits, make a decision during the early period is the order of the day.

South Carolina, Wake Forest, Maryland, Florida and VCU will receive official visits. "Those are the five schools that he wants to visit," Vandevender said.

Behind the scenes, the Gamecocks are regarded as the team to beat. "I think some of it was the relationship he's developed with the coaching staff through the summer. With South Carolina, he's had the relationship since January."

Everyone on the list has offered and plenty others that did including Connecticut, Boston College and North Carolina State, did not make the final list.

The magnitude of a final list that includes two ACC schools, a pair of SECs and a mid-major power is not lost on his coach. "I just wanted him to have some offers. That was my biggest thing. I had no idea he would get as big as he's gotten. It's a credit to Tre because he's the same kid that he was last November."
