Powell Trims To Three, Sets Visits

Dwight Powell's down to three. He's got his visits set up and his recruiting situation seems pretty neat and tidy at this stage.

Some guys talk about academics as a factor in their decision but don't really mean it. Dwight Powell, he means business.

Scout.com's No. 66 (and rising) senior out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy said he was going to pick a big time academically oriented program and judging from his final list, he hasn't strayed from the path.

"He's narrowed it down to three schools," IMG coach Vince Walden told Scout.com. "It's going to be Harvard, Stanford and Georgia Tech."

The 6-foot-10 Powell has his official visits lined up. Stanford is up first beginning Sept. 17, followed by Harvard Sept. 24 and Georgia Tech the weekend of Oct. 9.

Walden's star pupil isn't only his best player, he's the team's leader. "His intensity and his energy are infectious. When you have players you love all of them. Then there are some special kids who stand out.

"He was our lone captain last year. He's the first guy here, the last guy to leave. Plus, he places the value in the classroom. He wants an environment that will allow him to play and get better."
