Johnson Embarks On Series of Visits

James Johnson's big spring has afforded him the opportunity to be courted by a series of programs. This weekend, the Elsinore High product hits the road.

Well are you wondering what the post-summer list for Wildomar (Calif.) Elsinore (formerly of San Diego Morse) big man James Johnson looks like?

Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Marquette, Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut have all offered according to Ted Johnson, James' father. Florida has flirted with him.

Johnson's father said Arizona and Arizona State are receiving unofficial visits this weekend. The following weekend (August 24), Johnson is on the move again. He'll trip to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Since he's going to knock out four schools in two weekends, it begs the question: how many officials will he wind up taking?

"Right now for sure, even though we haven't nailed down the dates … he might only need to do three out of the five," Ted Johnson said. "I think he probably wants to go see Cal. After he gets back from Marquette we'll hit the ground running and try to knock out three of the five and then make a decision then."

Marquette is set to host Johnson for its elite camp the last weekend in August.

Johnson said some schools have prioritized his son. "I'd say Cal, Arizona, Oklahoma, Maryland, UConn and Virginia and Oklahoma State. They've been strong."
