Offers Roll In For Leonard

Damien Leonard spent his first spring and summer on the AAU circuit, and it was a success. The talented wing ended the summer with a number of scholarship offers.

With a number of high major coaches focusing on Fab Melo this past summer, Damien Leonard reaped the benefits.

Playing on the same AAU team – Florida Rams – as Melo, high major coaches from coast-to-coast evaluated the 2011 prospect and his recruitment received an upgrade.

"July was fun," Leonard told Scout.com. "I'd never done it before. It made me feel like a kid. I could have done better in some places. I think I improved a lot on defense."

Since July ended, Leonard said he's picked up scholarship offers from Miami, Virginia tech, Wake Forest, Clemson, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Memphis, Louisville and Marquette. Texas is involved as well.

"I'm getting to learn about more colleges as they call and send me mail," Leonard said. " It's going good."

"Right now I'm just having fun," he continued. "I'm wide open. There's no leaders and there's no list yet. I'll probably narrow it down some time during my junior year."

Although he appears to be pretty open, Leonard is in the process of setting up some visits. He doesn't have exact dates set, but he's planning to visit four schools soon.

"I want to visit Wake Forest, Kentucky, Texas and Miami sometime next month," he said.

Leonard is currently rated as a four-star prospect in the 2011 class.
