Smith Sets Unofficial, Working On Others

Roscoe Smith, a 6-foot-7, 185-pound small forward, set up an unofficial visit to an ACC program and is planning a few more.

Despite being in the midst of a transfer from Baltimore (Md.) Walbrook to Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill, Roscoe Smith is diving into the recruiting process.

According to Brian Thompson, Smith's father, they are still looking at a number of schools. Among the ones involved are UCLA, UConn, Maryland, Duke, Georgetown, Florida, Kentucky, Kansas and Memphis.

"Those eight or nine are showing a great deal of interest and Kansas is trying to come in for an in-home visit as well," Thompson explained.

"We are going to let [the schools] come into the homes and do the in-home visits," he said. "We are going to take a couple official and unofficial visits over the next couple weeks. We are trying to figure it all out now."

To date, Smith has only scheduled an unofficial visit to Duke, which will take place September 6th. Following that trip and his in-home visits, Smith apparently has a handful of schools that he knows he wants to see.

"He wants to visit UConn," Thompson said. "He wants to visit Florida. He's also probably going to take a ride to Maryland and Georgetown again even though he's already visited them once. When he gets a break from Oak Hill he'll go see those two local schools."

"We are in the process of setting up visits," he added. "We have to make sure all our paperwork is in and then we are going to set up more visits after September 9th. It's kind of difficult with Roscoe being in Oak Hill and me being in Baltimore."

Smith, a four-star prospect, doesn't have a timetable for his college decision.
