Jones Opts To Stay Local

Bryce Jones, one of the top wings in the West Coast class of 2010, has decided to play his college ball in the Pac-10...

Bryce Jones, 6-6 SR SF Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, has committed to USC, according to Taft head coach Derrick Taylor.

Jones is a very promising prospect with a significant upside. He's a terrific athlete with a very good basketball body. He's effective slashing to the basket, he can play with his back to the basket and he has a developing perimeter game.

I asked Taylor about Jones' reasons for picking the Trojans.

"He's looking beyond college," said Taylor. "If basketball works out after college, that's great, but he values the degree and the alumni base that USC offers. Also, both his father and stepfather are USC grads. And he really felt comfortable with Coach O'Neill."

Taylor said Arizona, Arizona State, UNLV and Gonzaga were the other finalists in Jones' recruitment.
