Donte Minter Update

Donte Minter didn't qualify academically last year but he did sign with Appalachian State. Now, he's making a name for himself at Fork Union Military Academy.

Minter Averaging 20 A Game

Fletcher Arritt is more than happy with power forward Donte Minter. So far, says Arritt, he's been better than advertised.

"He's been very good and he's scored well for us," Arritt said. "I think he's scored comfortably in our system." Arritt has been pleased with his back to the basket work and his short jump shot.

Minter was the MVP of the 2002 state championship game for West Rowan. This year, he's averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds at FUMA.

If you remember, he signed last season with Appalachian State but did not matriculate when he didn't qualify. Arritt said the Mountaineers would love to get him back. "I think anything is possible." However, there looks to be some stiff competition this time around. Ohio State, Marquette, Utah, Charlotte, Clemson and Virginia are showing interest. Last week, North Carolina made a visit up to watch him.
