2011's Price Is Headed To The Big East

Zach Price is off the board. The talented 2011 prospect took a recent unofficial visit and opted to end his recruitment.

Rick Pitino and his staff at Louisville had a handful of the nation's top juniors on campus this past weekend. On Tuesday they reaped the rewards, as Zach Price, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound big man, gave Pitino a verbal commitment.

"The first trip was a really big eye opener and basically the second trip, I didn't really let anybody know, but it basically sealed the deal," Price told Scout.com.

A standout at Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward, Price, who is ranked No. 38 in the class of 2011, was pursued by a number of a high major programs, but he said his decision came down to Louisville, Ohio State and Michigan.

"It basically came down to them being a program that fits me and will be able to put me at the next level," Price said. "I felt coach Pitino and his staff and the whole Louisville program presented everything and will help me get to the next level and once I get there succeed."

Louisville assistant coach Steve Masiello built a strong relationship with the four-star prospect, as did the Cardinals head coach.

"We have a really good relationship and it's most likely going to take off from here," he said of Masiello. "He gave me the OK to call him anytime. I feel really comfortable with him and all of the assistants as well."

"The first visit coach Pitino and I were very foreign to each other, but as the second visit came around I got a feel for what he's trying to do with his players," the four-star prospect said. "I feel that our relationship is going to continue to get stronger."

This marks Louisville's third commitment for the 2011 class. They already hold a pledge from top 15 big man Michael Chandler and fellow Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North teammate Ryan Taylor.
