For Irish, Wish Grant-ed

Sometimes all it takes is one visit. For Jerian Grant, the Big East is his destination.

One day on the road, one commitment.

So it goes for Notre Dame and head coach Mike Brey. On the first day of the fall evaluation period, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic standout Jerian Grant gave a commitment to the program.

"I think he's perfect for Notre Dame's system," DeMatha's Mike Jones told Scout.com. "It's a perfect fit. Coach Brey believes in him and I know we do. Jerian's unselfish and he has a high basketball IQ."

Notre Dame moved quickly to get this done. Grant visited campus last weekend and had trips scheduled to DePaul and Virginia. Brey's well-connected in the corridor in which Grant resides. Jones praised Grant, the son of a former NBA player Harvey Grant, as a guy you can win with.

"He's one of the guys that truly makes the guys around him better. He's going to do what it takes to win. He's not into any of the glamour things."

Sounds exactly like the blue-collar guy Brey uses to pad the win column in South Bend.
