"I think I made a good decision and I think with the decision I made I can be very successful at that school," Brookins told Scout.com Tuesday evening.
"I basically based my decision on my comfort level," Brookins added. "I felt very comfortable there and with the team and coaching staff. Just the area and Tulane in general, I just liked it."
Brookins, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound lead guard, also entertained interest from LaSalle, Boston University, Niagara and Delaware, but his relationship with Dickerson was among the many things that helped Tulane standout.
"I just felt more comfortable with them," he said. "I think coach Dickerson is a good person and I think me being away for home, he'll be a good fatherly figure to me."
Brookins is Tulane's first pledge for the 2010 class.
