"To be honest, the coaches got along great with my grandma and seeing them conversate was a plus," Evans said. On Tuesday evening, Majerus conducted an in-home visit with Evans that set in motion the Naperville (Ill.) Nequa Valley's commitment.
"I think it was the in-home visit I had last night that put St. Louis over the top. They met every standard and question that we had for them and it was a really good fit."
Speaking of standards, Evans holds himself to a high one. Last year he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds. This time around, in his final season, the last remaining high school hurdle is the state championship.
"We need to make it down to state. We can't settle for anything less than that. This is best core of guys that Nequa has ever had. We need to finish the job."
Evans was scheduled to visit Northwestern this weekend but cancelled once he committed to SLU.
