Panthers Roll Into Philly ... Again

Under Jamie Dixon, the Pittsburgh Panthers have enjoyed recruiting in Philadelphia. Junior John Johnson committed to the Panthers on Thursday.

In 2007 and 2008, Jamie Dixon's Pittsburgh Panthers plucked recruits out of Philadelphia. In the fall of 2011, Bradley Wannamaker and Nasir Robinson will be able to swap Philly stories with guard John Johnson.

The 6-foot-1 junior combo out of Girard College committed to the Panthers Thursday afternoon.

"I think that could be my family away from home," Johnson texted. "I like their style of play and it's not too far that my family can't see me play."

Johnson attended the Reebok All-American Camp last summer. However, it was during the high school season when Johnson made the most waves. As a sophomore, he led Girard College to the 2009 Pennsylvania state championship.

Johnson averaged 21 points as a sophomore.
