Williams Scores Big 12 Offer & Accepts It

Nino Williams received a recent scholarship offer from a Big 12 program, and over the weekend he gave the local squad a verbal commitment.

Nino Williams was beginning to get plenty of college interest, but just as it was picking up the 6-foot-5, 190-pound small forward made his college decision.

According to Matt Suther, of Spiece Mo-Kan, Williams, a standout at gave a verbal commitment to Kansas State on Friday.

"They've been recruiting him really hard," Suther said. "He's been up there a couple of times and we have another kid, Will Spradling, on our team that is going there and he's been up with Will a couple of times."

Suther said Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma State and USC were among the recent suitors, but Williams felt more comfortable with the the situation at Kansas State.

"He feels like the system fits him," he said. "He likes coach [Frank] Martin and coach [Brad] Underwood. He just likes those guys and feels comfortable about their situation."

Williams is Martin's first commitment in the 2011 class.
