Robert Rothbart, 6-10 JR PF Cupertino (Calif.) Monta Vista, has the perimeter skills of a wing player and he's drawn the attention of coaches up and down the West Coast.

We spoke with Robert's mother, Nada Rothbart, yesterday and asked about the status of his recruitment. "Robert doesn't know much yet about the schools outside of our area," said Mrs. Rothbart. "He's been to the Stanford and Cal campuses and those two are probably his first choices as of now. The coaches at those schools have seen him since he was in the 7th grade. But he will look at other schools before he makes his decision."

Mrs. Rothbart emphasized that Robert is going to take his time with the decision and he'll probably take several trips. She also said that academics will play a major role in the decision. "Robert scored 1140 on the SAT and his GPA last semester was 3.0 -- but he wants to get to 4.0," said Mrs. Rothbart.

Location could be an issue for Rothbart. "He's said he would like to stay close to home, if possible," said Mrs. Rothbart.
