Franklin Will Play In The PAC-10

Gary Franklin was ready to end his recruitment. He took an official visit to a PAC-10 program last weekend and opted to make a decision shortly after.

Gary Franklin had a tough decision.

The 6-foot guard out of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei had his list down to California, Baylor and Arizona State. Ultimately proximity to his home won out.

"The factor with Cal was that he wanted to play in the PAC-10," Gary Franklin Sr. told Scout.com. "There's history in the PAC-10 and the PAC-10 tournament."

Originally Franklin was committed Southern California, but after the recent coaching change he opened his recruitment back up. Franklin took an official visit to California last weekend and popped for the school Friday morning.

"He just grew up wanting to be apart of the PAC-10, which is one of the reasons he picked USC the first time around," the elder Franklin said. "We think Mike Montgomery is a really good coach and a guy with a lot of knowledge."

Franklin is the third four-star prospect to commit to Montgomery. Fellow California natives Richard Solomon and Allen Crabbe are commits, as is three-star prospect Alex Rossi.

Franklin, a combo guard, is ranked No. 84 overall in the class of 2010.
