Miles Still Open

Chris Miles is one of the top big men in the class of 2004. Being from Utah, it's natural to assume he would likely end up at Utah or BYU. But he says he could just as easily leave the state for college...

Chris Miles, 6-10 JR C Prove (Utah) Timpview, is one of the elite post players in the West Coast class of 2004. With a good frame, solid skills, nice hands and good feet, Miles projects as a high major prospect.

We spoke with Miles yesterday to get an update on his recruitment. When we last spoke with him in December, Miles mentioned that he particularly liked Gonzaga, along with Utah, BYU, Washington, Oregon and Connecticut. He told us yesterday that his list remains pretty much the same. "There hasn't been much change since December," said Miles.

We asked what he's looking for in a college and Miles replied, "Somewhere that's pretty good academically, but it will mostly be about the basketball program. Someplace where I feel I'll fit in -- where I can play -- but also a place that has a chance to win."

When questioned about the possibility of leaving the state of Utah, Miles said, "I might leave, but I could stay. I'm not sure right now." Miles told us that he played last summer on the BYU and Utah campuses with players from each team.

Don't look for a decision anytime soon from the big man. "I'll probably decide sometime during my senior year, probably in the fall."
