The 6-foot-10, 210-pound standout at Dayton (Ohio) Jefferson, will make his decision public on national television on Thurdsay.
As of last week, Payne was looking at five schools -- Arizona, West Virginia, Michigan State, Kentucky and Kansas. However, he recently eliminated Kansas from contention, and a source close to the situation says he's down to two.
"It's between Michigan State and West Virginia," one source close to the situation told Scout.com late Wednesday evening.
Once the five-star prospect makes his decision just one top 10 center in the 2010 class will be available. Payne is ranked No. 18 overall and No. 5 on the center list.
